deeply purpled clematis.
the cup game.
okay, so it is probably not actually called the cup game, but it involves sticks and a frisbee and four plastic cups, plus a willingness to launch one's body across the lawn in an effort to catch a toppled cup. 'the cup game' is much catchier, no?
so guess what. i just did five seconds of research, and the authoritative word of google reports the name of this lawn game as 'flimsee.' i was awfully close.
this flower is part pineapple, part anemone, part bird of paradise, one hundred percent weirdly fantastic. oh the wonders that take place in my backyard.
cartwheel lessons. i showed the littles what to do (and also might have pulled a hamstring), and they thought i was all nadia comeneci.**
i am, however, apparently not the greatest coach:
they could maybe use a little practice.
**sidenote: so this is a great reason to have kids around; they are ever so willing to be impressed by their mother's laughable efforts. i love these guys.
sweet shot tuesday

Oh but your lack of coaching skills yielded some fabulously entertaining photos so it's all good, yes? I'm itching to get outside suddenly. I wonder what wonders are hiding in my yard...
Love your photos. As always, of course. Especially the cartwheels because that is so kid-days. love.
Your pictures are so sweet. What a nice and relaxing weekend!
Love the cartwheel photos! I am really afraid I would hurt myself! Is it just because there is a gap of 25 years between doing cartwheels and teaching cartwheels (at least in my case!)? Too much sitting in a classroom and not enough cartwheels..... that must be it. Anyway, lovely.
I really love that weird purple flower....but then i am weird and love a huge number of weird things.
And by the way, the cartwheels look like the ones i used to do back way back in my school days....giggle. I could bend over backwards and kiss my heel, but could never do a cartwheel.
It looks like a wonderful Sunday afternoon to me. I really like the three action shots at the end. So sweet. All coaching aside, great job. lol.
What a beautiful day. Love your cartwheel photos. I haven't attempted a cartwheel since before babies. I think I'd pull a lot more than a hamstring.

aw-great shots, great post... sounds like a great day! :)
Dang. I missed the cartwheel tutorial.
i love your life. =)
i totally meant to add "teach a cartwheel" to our summer list. i will tomorrow!
What a sweet bunch of slice-of-life photos. And I'm totally going to have to look up the frisbee/cup game!
I believe "Bee's" cartwheel looks eerily like mine would look. I definitely need to hear more about the "flimsee" game. I am also strangely curious as to how Linda discovered she could bend over backwards and kiss her heel.
The pictures made me wish we hadn't had so much going on over the weekend, so we could have been there for these experiences.
I never and still can't do a cartwheel. Someone else will have to teach my two. What fun!
it's always a treat when stopping by your bloggy goodness :)
Your pictures make me want to vacation in your backyard! Cartwheels are hard to coach. Hand, hand, foot, foot...
{sigh}
