the fifty-cent tour

Ultimate Blog Party 2009

if you've arrived here via the ultimate blog party, benvenuto. in the interest of preventing Death By Boredom, i shall give you the abbreviated blog tour.

i'm nicole, aka nic, nicki, mom, or most popular: MOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM (followed by he's touching me!she breathed on me!i can't find my basketball shoes!). it's an amazingly common name, eh?

these here are my favoritest people, the progeny. they're a rowdy, happy crew. i love them so.

(my other favoritest person, the hubby, is camera shy. or something.)

i'm a crafter of handmade goodies. also a burgeoning photographer.

i adore:
1. waffles topped with strawberries and sweet cream
2. lyrical novels
3. stripey knee socks
4. fringe
5. british accents
6. anything smothered in chocolate, with this glaring exception
7. giving things away

which brings me to the part of this post where we give things away.

thing number one is a hand-stamped sterling teardrop pendant on a delicate sixteen-inch necklace with lucite floral accents. perfect for you, or the person whose birthday will sneak up on you next tuesday.

thing number two is mopsy, a bitty rabbit with a hand-cut note of affirmation. she's crafted from wool felt and the very last scraps of my amy butler ginger bliss fabric. i think i may enter to win this one myself.

in case you are afraid you'll miss out on mopsy, her brother flopsy is up for sale in my etsy shop.

to win thing one or thing two, please just say hi in the comment section below, and if you happen to have a good knock-knock joke, tack that on. (if not, no worries. just say hello.) i'm trying to teach my four-year-old actual jokes (as opposed to her made-up jokes, which inevitably feature the words potty, poop, and/or booty. it's just a stage, right?).

tell me in your comment which prize you'd prefer, and i'll pick two winners at random next weekend.

thanks for stopping by. party on.

* * *

my ubp wishlist includes:
kitchen aid artisan stand mixer from MomsWhoThink
pair of eleven collection shoes from Wishing Penny
handmade soap from Goat Milk Stuff
16, 19, 21, 22, USC26, USC11, INTL61, INTL41, 89, USC66, USC58, 41, USC15, 118, 52, 55, USC9, USC 56, 88, 91, USC59, USC67, 56, 130, 123, USC48

I am supremely relieved to know that my almost four-year-old is not the only one that adds poop/potty/booty to every story or joke. Here's my favorite joke...get's 'em every time!

Knock Knock.

Boo!
Boo who?
Why are you crying?

I'm loving Mposy...so sweet...and if I can get my hands on some yummy scraps of ginger bliss in the shape of a cute bunny, it'll just make my day! Thanks for a chance to win!

Hey nic! Cute cute bunny! Don't worry about her jokes. She is ahead of my kiddo. when I try to teach her about jokes I start with "knock knock" and then I tell her "okay now you say who's there" and she looks at me strangely and simply replies "grandma!" as always, love your blog!

Your talents amaze me! I can't help you with the joke department. My daughter tells similar jokes. I would be blessed with either of your creations.

MBB Founder and Editor Denene Millner said...

ROFL!!!!!!! I know EXACTLY how you feel re: the Knock Knock jokes... my 6-year-old is in a talent show this coming week, and she's telling--you guessed it--knock knock jokes. It took us quite some time to get her to understand that the ones we found via google were WAY better than the ones she made up... LOL! Okay, here's a good one...

Knock Knock
Who's there?
Yodel lay hee
Yodel lay hee who?
Dude, why are you yodeling?!

LOL!!! Gets me every time... (I'm kinda corny like that!)

Happy party day!

Oh, and I'm ALL IN on the super cute contest, too! Love them both, but IN LOVE with the necklace...

La Stink did quite a bit of less than stellar-knock knocking as a wee lass. There is hope though my friend; stay tuned to your miss, in a couple of years (I know gasp...years) she may just break out one like this little gem, come just this day, from our gal:

Knock Knock.
Who's there?
Repeat.
Repeat Who?
alright... Who, Who, Who.

snort. That girl slays me. She slays me and she loves your blog ;)

I don't think I have ever seen anything quite so cleverly made as your long ear-ed one... I hate to think that I would covet it selfishly for myself if I won, but I might ;)

Oh my goodness. First thing... LOVE the new look and look at that gorgeous picture of you over in the side bar - holy moly you look awesome!!! Secondly - are you stamping now!! AWESOMENESS!!! (We need to talk about that.)

Missy said...

Hi!

I looooove the necklace, very pretty.

As far as jokes go, I've got nothing other than the various crossing the road (that end in tragedy) jokes made up by my 5 year old. For example:

Why did the chicken cross the road?

I don't know, why?

He got ran over by the hot dog truck.

Yes, they all start with an innocent animal trying to cross an apparently highly traveled road only to end up smooshed by a truck carrying some kind a food item.

Oh both the necklace and the bunny are adorable! I wish I could think of a good knock-knock joke off-hand, but I'm drawing a blank at the moment :-p I'll definitely have to check out your blog more later... (I'm just bookmarking everyone right now, while I blog-hop my way through the party :-p)

Feel free to check out my blog, too! While I found the party too late to be part of the official prize giveaways, I do have a door prize at my blog: I'm giving away a free print copy of my book, "Two Snowflakes." Here's my address: http://twinhappyjen.blogspot.com/

It was nice to meet you!

Blog Party Woohoo! Talk about fashionably late, right, sorry. I have been sick which left me in a fog all last week, so I am still trying tomake my rounds. Better late than never I figured. Anyway, hope you had a great week at the UBP. Hope to see you again sometime!

Oh my goodness. First thing... LOVE the new look and look at that gorgeous picture of you over in the side bar - holy moly you look awesome!!! Secondly - are you stamping now!! AWESOMENESS!!! (We need to talk about that.)
Thirdly, I've got "too excited about the early stuff to finish reading the whole post before I comment" syndrome and hope I'm doing this right to enter. Now I have to go check out this 5 minutes for Mom business.

THANK YOU for the laugh! Oh the jokes I've heard that contained potty talk! The dinner's that have erupted in children's laughter over a potty joke whispered in the ear... "Guess who?" "who?" "Poophead!" har har har.

I used this site to enrich my children with non-potty jokes-
Kids Jokes

Silly Songs are a big favorite now - "Found a Peanut" I can't find the lyrics my mom taught me online, but theres a wide variety on google.

Christina - xristya@rock.com - Hi! This is my first Ultimate Blog Party, and I'm enjoying it! I prefer the silver necklace - is it imprinted with the word Lucky, or do you get to choose a word? (In which case I would choose KALINA, a name.) Either way, it's just GREAT and thanks for the giveaway!

Jen said...

Your talents amaze me! I can't help you with the joke department. My daughter tells similar jokes. I would be blessed with either of your creations.
