And while the rest of the Midwest Momhood might bear these mornings with good humor and grace, thinking, I certainly did enjoy a snow delay as a child myself, and now it's only fair that I take my turn as the mother, those of us who grew up in places where, for instance, the only missing of school to be had was that one time in third grade when a hurricane was coming and we got to go home early--yes, that minority among us should be exempt from this fluffy white delaying stuff.

bring on the snow plows
So the thing about school delays due to snow is that while they're loads of fun for the school-goers, they are a concentrated form of purgatory for the mothers.

Just for the record, we have no school today here on much of Oahu, due to a huge thunderstorm and power outages. So, if you lived here with your kiddies today, they would also be home with you! Sorry! Can't remember our preschool EVER closing before this momentous day!~~mom
Such silliness. Our school once shut down because of one inch of snow. One inch!
Yeah... I doubt that we will be experiencing any delays from snow today... or any other day here in Southern Cali... good luck surviving! The picture is really pretty though... :)
I've been reading for a little while and I thoroughly enjoy your blog! :o)
It seems that in the midwestern towns I've lived in (Sioux Falls, SD and Grand Rapids, MI) it takes a virtual apocalyptic snow-dump for school to be cancelled. At least, that's the way it seemed when I was in school in these cities. But when it WAS cancelled, my mom would just bundle me up and send me outside with a sled to go "play."
What a pretty picture! It snowed here too and it's freezing outside!
Chelsea
