delicioso

I'm not much of a breakfast person. My appetite takes a while to rouse in the morning, so I'm generally quite happy with just something chocolatey to drink. Chocolate milk if it's warm out, hot chocolate if I'm frigid.

Now that I'm jogging in the mornings, though, I need to have a bit more fuel in my stomach.

Ah, and did I also mention that I like to eat the same thing every morning? I don't relish standing bleary-eyed in the kitchen and having to re-figure out what it's going to be. I need to decide just once what breakfast looks like for the next, oh, thirteen months. At least.

So enter my latest breakfast trend:

Oatmeal. Oh yes, oatmeal.

But this is not your uncle's oatmeal, folks, this is oatmeal all-dressed-up. A splash of milk. A dousing of brown sugar. Sprinkled liberally with slivers of dried cherries and almonds, and voila!

Not the prettiest meal, I admit, but my taste buds are doing the mambo.

Mmm...I'm a trend person too. Pick something a stick with it for ages on end. Right now I'm on a cereal kick - All Bran Guardian.

I might have to try your oatmeal concoction out. I don't care for oatmeal much, but with that kind of dressing up? Yumm! And oatmeal is actually the best metabolism booster there is, according to a Harvard Medical study. =)

Yuuummmm, that is right up my food-alley! I love cereals and oatmeals. The more berries, nuts, and grains, the better I like it.

I must say that this depresses me a little...I don't think it's right that you're apart of our family & NOT a breakfast person!! I mean, I absolutely LOVE coming to your house for the mere fact that you always have about 10 different kinds of cereal to choose from! Well that & seeing the adorable kids of course. Oh yeah & seeing you & that other guy :)

H-m-m, I wonder if the love for oatmeal comes with getting older? I mean you did turn "ahem" a certain age this past year. Not that you are old when you turn "that" age. I was just wondering, 'cause I LOVE oatmeal, and KNOW I am old!! BUT, it can NOT be instant, or even the one minute kind. I like the Old Fashioned oats, and even better the Steel Ground oats. m-m-m

Kim--All Bran Guardian, eh? I'll have to check that one out. :) (Don't tell the breakfast police that I'm trying *another* new thing this week.)

Amelia--me too w/the nuts and fruits...I think we're part squirrel. heheh

Kin--so sorry, but I've probably been the oddball all along.

HFM--you can say thirty! I tell everyone my age now that I'm finally thirty. Kristin and I just discussed oatmeal--I actually don't like it very much (bland and mushy were the words I used), but the trick here is to add tasty stuff in so I don't actually taste the oatmeal! Good strategy, huh. The steel ground oats sound like they have potential, though.

Yummy...I too love oatmeal so much!! And I throw all kinds of things on top too.....sometimes when I'm being a good girl and working out I'll mix up some vanilla protein powder in there and eat it as "proatmeal!" Food for my muscles...of course that's not right now as I am being lazy this week...I like breakfast to be easy too...I can't think that early!!

Hey twinsy! I'm usually not hungry until 11:00. But if I *do* eat breakfast, it's ALWAYS oatmeal. Hee. I'm going to have to try your version. It sounds yummy.
