'to love would be an awfully big adventure.' -peter pan

the earth outside my windows is gathering snow, the fat, feathery kind that makes me think, inexplicably, of soap flakes. it's mighty clean out there.

inside we have light and the warmth of coffee cups, and a smallish gal who can't wait till i get up each morning so she can press her nose into my stomach and hug me.

february isn't half bad.

in other news, i have a few new pieces up in my shop, and this one in particular i am just in love with. so much so that i'm itching to give one away.

etched on my heart.

handstamped.

i love the simplicity of a date. it could signify an upcoming wedding or the day you first laid eyes on your beloved, or it could commemorate the life of someone dear to you. i'd also be happy to stamp a name or phrase if you'd prefer.

would you like one for yourself? for your valentine, or a friend, or your favorite aunt? i'll draw a name at random on monday at midnight (est) for one lucky reader.

per usual, if you follow this blog (yonder right) or are a fan of sweetTea on facebook, your name is automatically entered in all giveaways.

you may gain extra entries in the following ways:
-leave me a comment telling me what date you'd choose and why
-share a link to this post on facebook, twitter, or in your blog (please let me know you've done this in the comment section below)

yay!

and now, a quote from arguably the most memorable love story of all time:

'The Queen's Pride was his ship, and he loved her. (That was the way his sentences always went: It is raining today and I love you. My cold is better and I love you. Say hello to Horse and I love you. Like that.)'

if you are the first person to name the novel (or author) that quote heralds from, i'll give you an extra three entries. no googling (or other search-engining) allowed; i'm trusting you, folks. :)

**update 2/9: congratulations, jena of organizing mommy! your name was selected for this necklace. i'll be contacting you to discuss the details.**

ALSO: the quote hails from the princess bride (by william goldman). a few of you correctly identified it (rock on!); i gave amanda three extra entries for being the first.
:)

so lovely! I'd pick 6.22.2005. It was when my husband and I first started dating and we went to see an Oompah Band. How fun!
Alright. I admit, I googled because I had no clue and I was curious. And now I feel so foolish. ;-)

No liking the whole 'no googling' rule! I totally would've had an extra 3 entries here. But since I can't get a little extra help from my internet buddies, I'm going to go with a guess on the title-- 'The Queen's Pride' :) Seriously, that's my guess!

I would choose the date of 1-17-04 because that's my wedding date. Boring I know, but I like it!
Also, I'm going to post a link on facebook for this.

I never win these things...but I'll give it a go anyhoo! I'll facebook (per usual)...I'll give you a nod in my blog (not that anyone really reads it) AND you know I'm the biggest fan. As for your quote...I haven't the foggiest! I have to read! :) SMILES today and everyday! Thanks for the chance to win.

And I'm kinda thinking 12-25 for the day Christ was born! with a little cross. ????

wow. sweet! first i think our anniversary would be special: 11.24.01, but noting that night that i called this guy to let him know that i, too, loved him, would be beautiful, also. thanks for the giveaway! the lines of that book sound precious. i am off to search it out...

7/10 is my birthday - that was fun to see!

Still, I think I'd go with 6.7.03 - the day I married the love of my life.

What a beautiful necklace! And, the date is a really sweet, romantic idea!

SO pretty! Please enter me in your giveaway...and I'm already a follower. :) BTW, may I ask where you found your jewelry stamping kit? I've been looking for an inexpensive one for ages and haven't had any luck. Thanks! Happy weekend!

Smiles,

Just found your site....and am in love! Kelle, from Enjoying the small things, has you listed on her site, so that's how I found you. I just sent my husband the link to your shop because I totally want one of your necklaces when my second dear baby is born this June. (It is our last, and so this is the perfect gift!) So happy to have found you!!! The date I'd select right now is 05.25.03. That is the date my beloved and I got married- thus beginning our "family". :)

Winnie the Pooh? (I have no idea, I'm totally guessing)

I would choose 6/20/2004 - the day I became a mother.

It's a lovely piece!

I'm mostly curious as to why this future date of 7/10/2010 was your choice?

I would choose 9-29-09 and give it to my friend Lynette who just lost her four-month-old daughter. Sorry to be so sad, but it was the first thing I thought of when I saw that beautiful necklace.
Nicole, I've been a reader for awhile. You probably don't remember me by name, but I went to college with you and your hubby and did my student-teaching in third grade when you were teaching first (or maybe it was kindergarten) at Parkside.
I don't have a blog or twitter or a facebook account, so I'll just take my one chance! Love reading your blog!
One more thing . . . I have three boys. Should I go for the girl? You don't really have to answer that. :)

1-25-2009: the day I broke my leg in 3 places. Why? It was the catalyst that led to a huge change in my life the best part being the birth of my new baby daughter!

Oh and you're right...it is the best love story of all time, The Princess Bride by S. Morgenstern. (and no I didn't Google, I read it this summer).

Kristin said...

Oh I love this!! I would do 6.26.10 and give it to my cousin who is getting married this summer. :) I'm also posting this on my FB page.

And that quote could be in reference to none other than my dear sweet Wesley of the Princess Bride. Oh how I love love love that book. But alas I am not the first to answer correctly.

I would choose our anniversary 6.12.99!

CRAZYMOM said...

oh gosh, Nicole. Your stuff is so beautiful. I'd love to just sit and have tea with you sometime....

I would have my wedding date stamped on the heart if that were my necklace.

As for the quote. Count me out. It sounds so familiar, but I am heading over to google. But I'll keep it a secret. :)

Diane said...

Thanks for this great opportunity! The necklace is darling! I wouldn't choose it for myself. My best friend's sister just lost her 8-year old son when he was hit by a car on this bicycle. I would have his name (Kailani) stamped on it and give it as a gift to her.

As for the quote, it is shameful that I'm an English teacher and don't recognize it, but I have no idea. Someone more scholarly will get that one!

Shanna said...

What a cute necklace! There are so dates from which to choose - I think I'd have to think about it. I'll post the link of Facebook. I also will become a fan on Facebook - didn't know that was possible - I just was on your email list after falling in love with your work on eBay when expecting my daughter.

vada0427 said...

Your work is always gorgeous! I'd have to pick 2 dates - 3.25.99 & 4.27.03....or I could go with a condensed version of their middle names - FloriAnn...either would be super special!

I would love to put the day we get our baby from Uganda, but I don't know what the date will be yet. So my next pick would be Feb. 2, 1999. groundhog's day. The day my husband proposed and I said YES to this crazy, beautiful life with him.

Oh, it's beautiful. I would choose 6.10.07. It's the date I gave birth to sextuplets. Only one baby survived, but 6.10.07 is the day when all of them were still alive. I love that day.

Thank you for this opportunity.
