no matter how many times it happens, i'm ever fascinated by the way a couple of ovals, some flowers, a stack of rectangles and a few oblong shapes can go from this

to this

with just a few hours of stitching and stuffing.
meet phoebe and millicent. they are besties, and like to play pirates and eat pb&j. when they're bored, they speak with british accents and throw tea parties with pretend crumpets. they are awfully fond of shenanigans.

these gals are up in my shop today; please do peek in and say hello.
and now for my favorite part of today!

Beautiful softies!
I'd name mine Sally because that's the name my girlies always pretend with. Whether they're pretending to be mommies or babies, at least one of them is named Sally.
We don't even know someone with that name. But if I win, we will!
-c
such cuties are your softies!! funny, i was going to go with SALLY too, like the rushton's, being that anytime nysa is asked to name ANYTHING she chooses SALLY. but since that's already been suggested, i'll go for QRS--an old favorite of ayva's :) love love your blog
Oh I want a softie so badly!!! I would name her Charlotte because I almost used that name for both of my daughters. She would get lots of love in our house.
I'd name mine Bowtie and give it to my niece who loves to name her pets (dog named Ribbon) and dollies nouns instead of names.
Oh these are fabulous! My Aubrie would adore one!!! We would call ours Penelope.
I forgot to say why! We would namer her Penelope because we wanted our new neice be named Penelope & called Penny, but her name is Caroline. So we still want a baby Penelope :)
I'm DYING at your descriptions!! You're a hoot!!
I'd name her "emma" and give her to my big sis who would likely pass her on to her peruvian princess who is coming home soon :)
(if you make one that looks peruvian in your shop...brown skin...longish brown hair...i am likely to buy it regardless of winning any contests...hint, hint.)
Your creativity kills me!
Jenn
Oh what fun and creativity....I LOVE it! I think the little girls I look after would like a softie called "Little Miss Norah Jane". A little fancy pants who can happily join them under the grapefruit tree for picnics, and the ever elusive search for fairies in the garden.
-Kezzy
I would name her Matilda, because I love that book and the movie made of it. Matilda is just the sort of little girl to spark imaginations and make for hours of fun playtime. The sort of gal I'd love my little girls to be friends with.
Your softies are so, so darling. Truly.
oh, you KNOW i'm obsessed with your softies. i love Ellie's little Sofia and it took everything in me not to snatch up both of these cuties from your shoppe!
especially Phoebe. i have a little girl in my heart named Phoebe.
if we won, i'd have you bring my little Fiona to life.

Those are beautiful! I would name my doll "Lola". Mainly because Charlie and Lola are my favorite books and they make me smile. And those dolls make me smile too :)
(and they don't really look like a Charlie ;)
nim (like nim's island).
an adventurous girl who would be ready to go on any venture our two girls would be up for taking.
nicole, those softies are precious!!
I love how you described the dolls...precious and so cute!!! My daughter told me she would name her doll Pema:-)
Constance. Absolutely Constance. From The Mysterious Benedict Society. Because your dolls have such character and I can totally see the grouchy, smart, sleepy Constance in them. If I won, I'd give Constance to my husband's God daughter who also loves Constance and will be turning 9 this week. She'd adore her!
Those dolls... if I win, can I hide it from Ruby and keep it for myself, Lovey? I'll take her out in the pushcart and be the best Mummy! Cheerio!
I'd name her Olivia Marie. I would love to have more children but My husband says no and that's what I wanted to name my next girl:)
I would name mine Judy because I had a great doll growing up with that name. Judy #1 was named after my favorite waitress at the local diner!
Olive. Because that was the name of my first "rag doll" that my momma made for me. Back in the day before "softies" ruled. Back when a handmade doll from my mother was the only gift under the tree and I couldn't have been more thrilled. Olive was a what my mom caled a "picayune". I'd love to have my own little nappy headed, black-eyed, velvet-chocolate skinned baby girl some day. But I'd name her Tsiporah instead of Olive.
Lola Pearl. I wanted to name our daughter that so badly, but my husband wasn't too keen on it. ;) Sigh...
Oh my gosh, I never enter giveaways but this one? TOO CUTE TO PASS UP!
Well, I'd want a boy one, would you do that? And I'd name him Terrance because there aren't enough Terrance's in the world.
http://twitter.com/foldinglaundry/status/9606219507
I'd name mine LOLA (I've always loved that name)!
Too cute!!
Oh, those softies. I need one. I mean my daughter needs one. And I, I mean she would name it Fiona. Just because I love that name and my husband would never go for it.
I would name her Natalie Celeste because that is my granddaughters name and that is who would be getting this lovely doll.
I would name mine either Fiona or Terrance, just to taunt Love or Beth.
(Just kidding. I would name her Delilah.)
oh my heart - those dollies are SWEET.
I would name ours Bronwyn, as I have always always wanted a Bronwyn. Should she turn up & look un-Bronwyn-y, she would of course be called Finn.
THE cutest things!!! Thanks so much for giving one away (i so want to win!!)
I would name her "Ruby" because I think it's a REALLY cute name for a sweet doll in a red dress (can we pick the color of the dress if we win? ;) )
How sweet and adorable are these dolls?!? I love them!
If I won, I would want you to create a beautiful girl and her name would be Gita.
The story behind Gita involves my 3 year old son and his love for the children's entertainer, Raffi. For many months, he would watch Raffi's Children's Concert DVD and sing along to many songs like "5 Little Ducks" and "Little Red Wagon". There was one song, called "Like Me and You" that he sings (you can find it here, pg 4, bottom left corner ~ http://www.greenfrogchildcare.com/songs.pdf) where Raffi sings about children's names from all over the world in different countries. Gita was one of the names he sung about it stuck with me until we get pregnant again, to later find out it was a baby girl. I so desperately wanted to name her Gita, but my husband wasn't sold on it. So the name Gita has sat with me for a long time now. Winning this giveaway would give me that chance to make the name Gita, a reality.
Thanks so much for the chance!
Jen

Ooooh...gorgeous! I just love those perfect little cheeks!
If I won, I would ask for a little doll with tan skin, brown hair, and green eyes...to match my own little ("mixy") daughter. *Grin* Then I would call her Ming Wai - my daughter's Chinese name! She's 3, and we're trying to plant deep in her heart that she is unique, and beautiful. It's fairly easy to find dolls that are white, like her mama, or Chinese, like her daddy...but rather difficult to find dolls that are special, like her!
I blogged about this, here:
http://iheartagiveaway.blogspot.com/2010/02/60piggies-giveaway-softie-dolls.html
I tweeted! :)

You have the most AMAZING descriptions! I just want to carry you around in my pocket!!!!
Ok.. doll... Would you make a boy? could you? I would name him Milo.
When we had my son we waivered between Milo and Miles. We named him Miles. When my husband returned to work he told all of our coworkers that his name was Milo. They sure were shocked to see his birth announcment and the name Miles. So now its one of our favorite jokes and I would love to give Miles a Milo of his own to have.

Oh my. GORGEOUS. I LOVE these sweet softies!
I would name mine Genevieve. Because it's pretty and when SHE gets bored she can talk in a French accent. :)
tweet tweet!
http://twitter.com/vanster/status/9610098121
Those ladies are gorgeous! I'd name mine Maisie - because she'd be just crazy!
Sophie - I've always been fascinated with that name and it was on the list for the name for our first baby girl. We settled on Olivia but my husband, the other day, mentioned that he really liked the name Sophie a lot...
Okay, so these are sooo sweet. If I hadn't just spent weeks sewing things for a certain 5yr. old's room make-over I would be ready to make one myself. As it stands, I am so done creating right now. If I won, however, I think I would like a little Native Am. doll named "Nita". It means "little bear" and seems approprite for the "elder sister" to tote around. Again, can I say adorable?
I like food names. Clementine and Olive are favorites. I like the thought of a name describing someone as being sweet and savory at the same time ; )
I love these two dolls and so would my daughter Reese! I would probably name her Kennedy in honor of Reese's middle name :)
This are THE BEST. I have boys but I still want one :)
Her name - Helen (my Grandma)
Thank you!
Oh my...I said THIS are the best. It's early. I'm off to tweet...
Those are so beautiful! I would ask my daughter to name it, so I am sure her name would end up as Baby.
My boy is man enough to rock a softie! We'd go with Lucy for a girl, or Peter for a boy for our softies!
I would name my doll "Linda" but not LINDA as in the name, linda as in "cute" as it's said in Spanish. Lean-dah...because these dolls are VERY cute :)
And I like your blog!
wow, love your blog and dolls...
I would name mine Petunia ... running joke between me the the hubby ...
First we had a plant named Petunia.
Then a bunny.
Then a dog.
Got more creative when we had out daughter... lol named her Gia...she would LOVE these!
These are so cute!
I would name it Todd and let the dog tear it apart.... ;-)
Hey Girlie! You know I love your dolls! I would name mine LEONA!...for my sweet Grandma who is in the "old folks home" and not herself these days...I would be giving Leona to Leona...to keep her company on those days when she needs it! We live more than 3 hours away and I don't get to see her enough. I know she'd love her!
Oh yeah...I facebooked you too.
came her via Beth's post about you helping out with You Capture-your dolls are wonderful
I would name my Mildred Jean. My grandmother was named Mildred Jean and she passed away when I was very young. She would need to have glasses and if The chicken didn't snatch her up she would find a loving home with my 3 year old niece Lillith
I love your softies & my daughter would love it too!! If I got to name her, I'd name her Lili, b/c that is my nickname. But if my daughter names her, i think she would choose Rachel. I recently found a few "notes" in her room with that name & when I asked her about it, she said that was her pretend name!
jmlm1@suddenlink.net
I'm thinking we would name her Esther. She would be so much fun for my little girl to play with!
I love your softie dolls. I made a few for some little girls for Christmas, but never managed to make one for our Hazel girl who is due in just a couple of weeks.
If I won a custom doll, it would most certainly be for her. (It would actually be her FIRST doll!)
Not sure what I'd name her. I like to let the kids name their friends, but with Hazel being newborn, I imagine the doll would go nameless for a long time.
Maybe Buttercup from The Princess Bride. I used to name lots of my little dolls Buttercup when I was little. My husband might take some convincing... :)
Always a fan of your dolls!
love these too
These are so adorable.
I'd name her lulu because I love the name and I know my husband would never let me name a baby lulu.
Emma, it was just my favorite name growing up, now I have a real Emma
Brooke
ella grace! have loved that name for a decade and have a special little neice who would LOVE it!!
Oh Nic! These are so cute! Since Miss E already won one of these I can just say how awesome them are.... Evey still sleeps with hers 2-3 times a week and Ben eye's it like he might think about swiping it for himself. :D Gorgeous work!!
I'd name her Fern because that's what my mom wanted to name me. So glad she didn't though.
Anastasia, because these dolls are so gorgeously unique, just like that name. Seriously, they are very cool.
i would name her wren, after my best friend who did talk in a british accent and play pirates with me. great captures by the way!
Oh, those are so wonderful!
Great shapes and what gorgeous soft dolls.
these are adorable! i'd name my ruthie.
Oh my goodness!!! Those are so cute!! I just adore those little girls. I would love to learn how to make something like that. I just found a book of patterns to make doll clothes that I think I am going to try my hand at soon.
I have a 10 mo old girl after having two boys, I need to get into some girlie stuff!!! If I win, I will name mine Rose. Just because!
Very mysterious shapes, btw.
Awww...those are so cute.
With two boys...I would probably save it for a gift for a little baby girl someday.
So I'll just name it "baby girl"
Who knows...maybe we will have a girl someday. :)
you are very talented. :)
I would name her Penelope. It is such a fun name to say, but I would never want to burden a human child who will one day attend school with such a moniker.
Millicent and Phoebe look so sweet and huggable.
hugs,
Heidi

Ooooh !! They're so beautiful !
I'd name mine Cunégonde because it's a funny name. There is a street not too far from my apartment called Ste-Cunégonde and every time I see the name I giggle and I ask myself what Saint was she.
If it was a boy doll I would name him Herménégilde because I always wanted to name a black cat that name but my cat is a giant tabby named Gérard. Like Cunégonde, it's an old name.
Nic, these two friends are just the cutest!!! LOVE them!
My 4-year old daughter swears up and down she is going to name her firstborn daughter Prune. I know she'd love a little Prune to enjoy for the years before she becomes a mom herself. And hopefully comes up with some alternative names for her offspring.
Adore your blog!
Lisa
I love your youcapture shape pictures!
The dolls are also cute! I would name the doll Luciana...because it would be for my 5 year old daughter and she loves the name Luciana.
Love your softy dolls - would love to have one named Annie. Here is hoping I am lucky!!
Oh they're are so adorable! I'd name her Iwonka, it's the 1st European name to pop into my head
I would name mine Betty Freddie...those are the first names of my grandmother and her twin sister...I think they would get a kick out of that...maybe one day if I have a daughter I can pass along Betty Freddie and tell her where the name came from :)
-Katie
Oh this is easy! I would name my doll Sabina. When I was pregnant with my first daughter, I knew I wanted to name her Sabina after the character in The Unbearable Lightness of Being. The character Sabina is strong, independent, beautiful, artistic, and creative. These were all qualities that I wanted to instill in my daughter. The problem was that my husband didn't particularly like the name, and my mom hated it. My mom would say, "How's Sabina?" when we talked on the phone, with the Sabina part sounding harsh and awful. In fact, nobody liked the name. I adored it all the way to the end, and still do. I love the name I gave my daughter, and don't have any regrets, but I never got my Sabina. It's a good name for a charming little doll! Thanks for this chance!
I'd name mine PENELOPE because that would be the name of our next daughter if we were really going to have another one (one can dream right?)...and we'd call her PEENALOPE with a long E and O just for fun :)
I'd name my doll Penelope Pink................sounds totally girly, so it reminds me of my 4 year-old pink and purple loving little girl :)
gorgeous! i love your softie dolls. My munchkin was lucky enough to be on the receiving end of one of the dolls Raechel mentioned making for Christmas. She has been a great cuddle buddy. I showed her a picture of your new dolls and asked what she would name one and she said "baby ella" for her sister. So, that's that! :)
They are beautiful! I would name mine Myrtle after my great grandmother.
Oh my gosh! I love your blog. And those dolls. Goodness, you rock.
Gorgeous! I just love them! :)
Mine would likely get named "baby" because that's what my baby names all her dolls and she would love this one! :)
How adorable! We would name a softie Emi because it means "blessing," and that is what every child is! We are in the process of adopting and if we are blessed with a girl, this name is definitely in the running!
WE (I say we cuz, I consult my daughter on all "friends" names) would name our softie doll.......drum roll......LOLA!!! Why? because A) it rolls well off the tongue, B) It's my daughter's FAVORITE cartoon (Charlie and Lola) and C) It is unbelievably cute to hear my daughter say the name Lola with a british accent. (the cartoon Charlie and Lola is a british cartoon). These are the cutest...my daughter just saw these and said "Look mommy, friends" :) hahahaha. crossing my fingers for a Softie!!!!
If I named her I would go with Lili. It was the name I gave my favorite dollie when I was a wee one. The next Christmas my grandparents asked me what was on my list and I told them another Lili...and so they did! Only grandparents would indulge little ones like that :). I toted my 2 Lilis around everywhere we went. Thanks for bringing these memories to mind!
Now, if my little pumpkin named her, she would be Petunia the Pumpkin, followed by a hysterical laugh everytime the name rolled off her tongue. Kids are the best!
Praying blessings upon your journey to becoming 70 piggies :)
I'd name mine Lulu :)
And I'd get one with brown skin since we're also adopting from Africa
oh, i think i actually made it in time to enter this! yay for me. well, for starters i would keep this doll all for my own....a first for me. not that i have ever won a doll, but usually all dolls are for my kiddos. as for name, i am a gotta see her to name her kinda gal. i do like the name sapphire, though. thanks for the opportunity! what fun! ;)
i blogged this giveaway! your dolls are adorable, by the way! ;)
I hope I can make it in!
I would name mine...
Lacey.
According to, like, EVERYBODY (okay, well just my nit-picky family), it's too crazy to name a baby Lacey.
ps. I am super crazy in love with the adorable-ness of these things!
when curt was little he had 2 imaginary friends he called "connie "& bella"!!! they were besties!! id name them that...connie & bella!!
These are so cute, you are so creative! I would name my doll Madison and call her Madi for short, I have always liked that name for a girl, but my husband doesn't care for it, so if I can't use it for a future baby girl that God might someday bless me with, then I would at least use it to name a beautiful little girl doll:)
I also did post your website link on my facebook page:)
I also did post your website link on my facebook page:)
